- A diplomatic arrival in the snow
Unknown photographer / Anefo / Nationaal Archief
CC0How this photo was verified
Frozen source capture field 1970-01-07 supports 1970. Caption event/comparison years and digitization timestamps were not substituted for the source capture year. Anefo 923-1342 names the New Year reception at Paleis op de Dam, Amsterdam. The original shows the approach toward the palace with the square and crowd behind the visitors. Q1056152 anchors the palace and a 300 m allowance covers its forecourt. Do not use the ambassador’s nationality as geography. Uncropped original-derived frame preserves guards, carpet, snow, crowd and facades. Faces in shadow remain naturally darker without artificial reconstruction.
- Traffic passes the Royal Palace
FORTEPAN / LHM
CC BY-SA 3.0How this photo was verified
Frozen source capture field 1969 supports 1969. Original Fortepan item retrieved in this session independently confirms that capture year; created/upload timestamps are kept separate. Commons item and primary Fortepan mid 93524 name Dam Square opposite the Royal Palace and year 1969. Its mapped square point is 52.3733,4.8925; Q1056152 identifies the visible palace. The 300 m subject-site allowance includes the foreground square and both closely separated reference points. Inspected full original-derived colour image: cars, truck, wires, palace facade and scaffolding remain readable. Original grain and small dust marks retained.
- At the entrance to the world’s fair
FORTEPAN / Fortepan
CC BY-SA 3.0How this photo was verified
Frozen source capture field 1937 supports 1937. Original Fortepan item retrieved in this session independently confirms that capture year; created/upload timestamps are kept separate. Primary Fortepan mid 8981 explicitly maps old_id 4289 to the 1937 Paris exhibition photo, resolving the legacy ID mismatch. It supplies the Eiffel Tower subject point 48.8583,2.2945. Original shows the tower beyond the Trocadero exhibition entrance. An 850 m allowance covers the visible tower-to-entrance scene; this is a subject-site pin, not camera GPS. Original-derived display preserves complete ticket-booth and pavilion composition. Natural grain and a few moving visitors remain; the tower and exhibition clues are readable.
- Luggage on the station platform
Charles O’Rear / Environmental Protection Agency / US National Archives
Public domainHow this photo was verified
Frozen source capture field June 1974 date QS:P571,+1974-06-00T00:00:00Z/10 supports 1974. Caption event/comparison years and digitization timestamps were not substituted for the source capture year. NARA 556074 explicitly names Chicago Union Station. The generic NARA Chicago point 41.85,-87.65 is rejected as a city catalog coordinate; Q1155989 anchors the actual station with a 400 m platform allowance. Practice-only because the visible interior has weak independent city clues. Uncropped original-derived slide retains travellers, train, carts, platform and border. Naturally soft small details remain; no enhancement invents readable signs.
